An Efficient Method for Determining Capillary Pressure and Relative Permeability Curves from Spontaneous Imbibition Data

In this paper, a very efficient method, called single matrix block analyzer (SMBA), has been developed to determine relative permeability and capillary pressure curves from spontaneous imbibition (SI) data. SMBA mimics realistically the SI tests by appropriate boundary conditions modeling. In the proposed method, a cuboid with an identical core plug height is considered. The equal dimensions of...

Capillary pressure and distribution of vascular resistance in isolated lung.

AGOSTONI, EMILIO, AND JOHANNES RIPER. Capillary pressure and distribution of vascular resistance in isolated lung. Am. J. Physiol. 202(6) : 1033-1036. I g62.-Isolated lobes of dogs’ lungs were perfused with constant nonpulsatile blood flow and expanded by negative external pressure. The pressure under which Ringer solution was absorbed through the visceral pleura was measured by an osmometric m...

A Simple Method for Estimating Generalized Negative Binomial Distribution

A simple and quick method of estimating the parameters of the Generalized Negative Binomial Distribution (GNBD) has been suggested. A Monte Carlo technique has been applied to study the unbiasedness and the efficiency of the estimates so obtained. Using this method of estimation the GNBD has been fitted to some observed data and the fits have been found quite satisfactory.

A Simple Transformation Method in Skewness Reduction

Statistical analysis of non-normal data is usually more complicated than that for normaldistribution. In this paper, a simple root/power transformation technique developed by Niaki, et al [1]is extended to transform right and left skewed distributions to nearly normal. The value of theroot/power is explored such that the skewness of the transformed data becomes almost zero with anacceptable err...
